Several rappers and their record labels are being sued over a 1970s jazz record that was allegedly sampled without permission. Kanye West, Common, Method Man, and Redman were named in a lawsuit filed on Thursday in the U.S. District Court in New York.
Kathleen Firrantello, daughter of the late jazz musician Joe Farrell, is accusing each artist of illegally lifting portions of his 1974 record, “Upon This Rock.”

New York rap duo, M.O.P. has filed suit against World Wrestling Entertainment alleging copyright infringement over their hit single "Ante Up."
According to the lawsuit filed earlier this month, Jamal Grinnage and Eric Murray -- that's Lil' Fame and Billy Danze, claim WWE sampled their song for wrestler John Cena's intro theme which has appeared on DVDs, CDs, PPV events, and ringtones, without securing the proper rights.

Prolific MC Mos Def has found himself in hot water with the law once again. Earlier this year, Mos Def was being investigated by Las Vegas Police for larceny after a run in with a fan outside the local Hilton hotel.
The "fan" turned out to be Volker Corell -- an official photographer for the Men's Apparel and Garment Industry Convention (MAGIC) in Las Vegas.
